Questions And Answers About Online Banking

  • What is Online Banking?
    Online Banking is the Internet Banking product of American Bank of Commerce. Bank customers can access their checking, savings, time deposits and most loan accounts from their personal computer.
  • What do I need to be able to use Online Banking?
    You need a checking account at American Bank of Commerce and access to the Internet.
  • What kind of equipment and software do I need to use Online Banking?
    You will need Internet access and a Web Browser (Netscape 5.0 or higher, Microsoft 5.0 or higher, or AOL 5.0 or higher is preferred).
  • What kind of accounts can I access via Online Banking?
    All checking, savings, time deposits (CDs and IRAs), Credit Advantage, and most loans. At this time Credit Card accounts are not available to view via Online Banking.
  • If I only have a loan with American Bank of Commerce can I use Online Banking?
    No, you must have a checking account to enroll in Online Banking.
  • Can I import information about my account into my personal finance software?
    Yes, information can be imported to either Quicken('99 or 2000) or Microsoft Money or any other software package that accepts Comma Delimited Files (CDF). Importing to Quick Books is not available.
  • Can I access my accounts from more than one computer?
    Yes, Online Banking is accessible from any Internet-capable computer.
  • Is my information safe?
    Online Banking has a combination of industry approved and tested security technologies to protect your data. It features a password controlled system entry, Verisign issued Digital ID for the bank's server, Secure Sockets Layers (SSL) protocol for data encryption (transmission security), and a firewall to protect entry into and out of the bank's systems. Maintenance of your login ID and password confidentiality complete the protection for you and the bank.
  • When can I access Online Banking?
    Online Banking is a available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
  • Are there restrictions as to the type of accounts I can transfer funds to and from?
    You can transfer funds between any of your accounts, including transfers to a loan (making a payment). Based on the type of accounts, federal regulations may limit the number of withdrawals and/or transfers that may be made to certain savings and money market accounts. Check with any New Accounts representative if you are unsure about the restrictions on your accounts.
  • Can I transfer funds to accounts that I transfer funds from?
    No, transfers can only be made between accounts at American Bank of Commerce.
  • Can I limit what accounts that I transfer funds from?
    Yes you can designate an account as limited access through Online Banking, and this will prevent transfers from an account. You will still be able to transfer funds into the account.
  • When will the transfer take place?
    Transfers done before 3:00pm Central Time will take place the same business day. Any transfers done after 3:00pm Central Time will be done the following business day.
  • I travel frequently without access to the Internet. Can I schedule transfers?
    Yes, you can enter transfers at any time with an effective date in the future.
  • Who can I pay using the Bill Payer function?
    You can pay anyone! There is a list of payees' that you can use, but anyone not on the list can be added to your personalized 'payee' list.
  • How will the company be paid?
    Companies can receive payments in two ways; electronically or via paper draft mailed to the payee. Paper drafts are noted by an asterisk in the payee list.
  • How long does it take for the company to get my payment?
    Electronic payments take a maximum of 3 business days. Paper drafts may take up to 8 business days. Make sure that you take these time periods into account when paying bills to avoid late charges.
  • When is the payment taken from my account when I pay a bill?
    The payment amount is deducted on the day the transaction is entered.
  • How do I enroll in Online Banking?
    You can request an enrollment packet by clicking here or via email, phone or picking one up from a New Accounts Representative in any of our banking centers. The enrollment forms can be completed and either mailed or delivered back to the New Accounts Representative in any of our banking centers.
  • What are the costs for Online Banking?
    It's free, including the bill pay service for retail accounts.
