What is MasterCard Secure Code?
MasterCard Secure Code is an innovative service offering secure
Internet shopping
through the use of a debit or credit MasterCard. MasterCard Secure
Code allows
the cardholder to add a personal SecureCode to an existing card,
getting added
security and the reassurance that only the card owner can use the
card when
making an online purchase.
How does Secure Code work?
When a purchase is made online, Secure Code issues a receipt at
the end of the
checkout process. The receipt includes details of the current purchase,
such as
site name, purchase amount and date. The receipt is signed through
the use of
personal Secure Code and click "Submit" to proceed with
the purchase. Without
the Secure Code the purchase cannot take place. The cardholders
secure code
will only be requested from participating Secure Code merchants.
Will customer be billed for Secure Code Security
Services?
No, Cardholders will only be billed for the purchase made at no
additional charge for
the added security service. Their account will be billed in the
same way it is billed
today.
What are the system requirements for MasterCard
Secure Code?
Secure Code requires the use of Windows Microsoft internet Explorer
5.5 and 6.0,
Windows Netscape 7.1 and 7.2, Windows AOL 9, Windows Firefox 1.0
and
Macintosh Safari
What is a Personal Greeting?
The personal greeting is a message that is created during registration.
Each time
an online purchase is made a small window will pop up and ask that
the Secure
Code be entered. In this window is where the personal greeting can
be seen. The
personal greeting is the tool that assures the cardholder that they
are communicating
with the card issuer, ABC. If the personal greeting is not there,
then the customer
should contact MasterCard immediately.
Why does the Customer get a message/e-mail
saying they should personalize their account?
When they activate Secure Code during shopping they will receive
a preassigned
Personal Greeting. When they personalize their account they can
select a different
personal greeting.
What is Activation During Shopping?
This allows customers to enroll for Secure Code when shopping online.
Once they
shop at a participating merchant they will be prompted to enroll.
The activation
process is quick and simple.
What does the customer do if they forgot
their Secure Code?
They will need to select the FORGOT YOUR SECURE CODE, click here
link
that appears on the receipt. In the following page, re-enter the
identifying details
that were submitted during their initial registration and then will
select a new code.
